Francesco de Cristofaro teaches Comparative Literature at the University of Naples Federico II. He won the Sapegno Prize with Zoo di romanzi. Balzac, Dickens e altri bestiari (Liguori 2002). He is the author of essays in books and journals. He published an anthology of Giovanni Verga's works (Treccani 2012). He edited a new edition of I promessi sposi (Rizzoli 2014) and also dedicated a critical profile to Manzoni (Il Mulino 2009). In 2017 he coordinated the researches Il borghese fa il mondo and L'epica dopo il moderno, the results of which appeared for Donzelli and Pacini. He has been coordinator of the Malatesta Laboratory since 2014. He edited the handbook Letterature comparate (Carocci n.e. 2020). With Giancarlo Alfano, he edited the four-volume work Il romanzo in Italia (Carocci 2018). With Stefano Ercolino, the volume Critica sperimentale. Franco Moretti e la letteratura (Carocci 2021).
